Goal 1: Assess the Homeless Services Coalition’s preparedness and capacity to work effectively to shape public policy with regard to homelessness through completion of the Lobbying and Advocacy Handbook for Nonprofit Organizations Public Policy Readiness Inventory.
Outcome: A Public Policy Work Plan will be developed to guide the advocacy efforts of the board and membership.
Goal 2: Identify issues of importance to the Homeless Services Coalition’s stakeholders.
Outcome: The list of issues key to Homeless Services Coalition members will guide advocacy efforts.
Goal 3: Develop and foster strategic partnerships with city, county, state and federal government officials.
Outcome: The Homeless Services Coalition will expand its arenas of influence on public policy issues related to homelessness striving for positive impact on decisions.
Fund Development
Goal 1: Guide the CoC grant submission and application process.
Outcome: HSC will bring to the community maximum HUD funding and resources.
Goal 2: Plan, organize and execute a successful fund raising event to benefit the Homeless Services Coalition.
Outcome: The Homeless Services Coalition will raise $25,000 to support its various activities.
Goal 3: Develop a grant process for raising additional funds for the Coalition.
Outcome: Qualified grant writers will assist the Homeless Services Coalition in securing funds for organizational expansion.
Goal 4: Create an endowment for the Homeless Services Coalition.
Outcome: The Homeless Services Coalition achieves long term financial sustainability.
Internal Relationships
Goal 1: The Homeless Services Coalition Board directs and supports the work of Coalition staff to be responsive to the needs of the homeless, member agencies who serve them, and the greater community.
Outcome: The Homeless Services Coalition is effective in building the community’s capacity to impact homelessness.
Membership
Goal 1: Strengthen and improve relationships between the Homeless Services Coalition board, membership, agency executive directors and committee chairs.
Outcome: Stronger ties and more effective communication within the homeless service provider community.
Goal 2: Expand membership base.
Outcome: HSC’s position strengthened in community in order to execute strategic plan.
Products:
Goal 1: Review and revise all written materials relating to the Homeless Services Coalition including, but not limited to, the mission and vision statements.
Outcome: Marketing tools for new members, supporters, public officials, funders, agency executive directors, community planners and the media provide vibrant, engaging and clear messages on the mission and purpose of the Homeless Services Coalition.
Goal 2: Update, expand and maintain the Homeless Services Coalition website with the assistance of the homeless clients.
Outcome: The Homeless Services Coalition website is functional for the homeless, member organizations, policy makers, funders, the media, and the community with needed resources, best practices, and innovative methods for the exchange of information.
Goal 3: Develop and provide critical services, data and training in a number of formats, for member agencies and the community.
Outcome: Staff working with the homeless receive services and training that is readily available and cost effective for member agencies.
Goal 4: Format established standards and develop/promote new standards and best practices for outreach, emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent housing and counting the homeless.
Outcome: Services to the homeless meet or exceed established standards as determined through monitoring and rating reviews and reflect best practices in the field.
